Description

Sika Film is a moisture evaporation retardant. It is designed to be used on concrete surfaces to reduce evaporative water loss.

Uses

Sika Film is used to reduce the evaporation rate of water in concrete. It protects freshly placed concrete from the effects of excessive moisture loss in all drying conditions.

Advantages

  • Reduces the incidence of plastic shrinkage cracking.
  • Enables concrete to remain workable during finishing.
  • Economical and easy to apply.
  • Fugitive blue dye.

Technical and Physical Data

Form Liquid
Colour Blue
Density (20°C) 1.0 kg/litre approx.
Coverage When diluted at a ratio of one to nine, one litre of Sika Film will yield ten litres. Depending on surface profile and texture the total diluted material covers an area of approximately 40-100 m².

Storage and Shelf life

Stored at temperatures between 5°C and 35ºC in unopened original containers, protected from direct sunlight and frost, shelf life is at least one (1) year.

Important note

  • Sika Film is NOT a curing compound.
  • Sika Film does not affect the surface hardness of concrete, when applied at the recommended coverage rate.
  • Sika Film can be used with concrete containing retarding or accelerating admixture, water reducing admixtures and superplasticisers.

Instructions for Use

Mixing

Dilute at a ratio of 1 part Sika Film concentrate to 9 parts water. It is recommended that a dilution of 1:5 (Sika Film:Water) be used for very low humidity and windy condition. To mix, shake Sika Film concentrate vigorously. Thoroughly mix the one part Sika Film with nine parts water by volume. Shake diluted material thoroughly

Application Method

The diluted Sika Film solution can be applied with a fine mist sprayer as soon as the concrete is deposited. Each time the surface is “broken” during the finishing operations Sika Film should be reapplied.

Cleaning

Equipment used to mix and apply Sika Film should be washed immediately after use with water.
